Sangli is a city in the state of Maharashtra. The city is also referred to as the Turmeric City because of its trade and production and exchange of the spice. The town of Sangli is located on the banks of the Krishna River and houses many sugar factories. The valley of the River Krishna and its tributaries offer numerous water systems and horticultural benefits which drive the economy of the city.
Sangli comprises of three seasons. Sweltering dry summer starts from February to the month of June. Rainy season or monsoons starts from the middle of June to late October and a mellow cool season from early November to February. Additionally, the popular hill station of Panchgani is nearby and many people from Sangli prefer to drive away to the hill station during the weekends.
